August 28 was when we went into Intercable at the mall to sign an internet contract. We were assured that within "5 to 10 working days", that someone would hook us up with this service. Maybe it's because we never laid down any money up front, but thus far - note that we are now on Day 14 (and I'm only counting working days!), and no sign of any Intercable folks. No phone messages either. Although we do have Edgar, our Internet/Cable guy's, cell phone number.
Many more interesting and noteworthy things have happened. Most of this is for my personal enjoyment to read when I retire.
Yesterday, I was informed by Norma, my TA, that someone has informed her that we were responsible for the "Values" bulletin board this week. I don't even know where the "Values" board is, much less know that I was supposed to do something about it! Later that afternoon (note that this was Wednesday, and a school week ends on Friday...), an email was sent to us, letting us know the phrase we were supposed to tack up on this said bulletin board. For background information, the "value" we are currently promoting (and doing so with no less pizazz than a P&G marketing group) is RESPECT. I'm not sure I quite understand the phrase, much less have an ESL second-grader understand! Please read the following carefully, and email if you figure it out! :)
"Demonstrate congruence in the way we think, talk and act, which promotes an honest and transparent environment. (Honesty) "
I believe that in laymen's terms, it's supposed to say "Be Honest." I think that is our plan - plus it'll save trees. We won't have to cut out so many letters.
This was another Values "Phrase of the Week":
(Communicate with others in a polite and sensitive manner and avoid undermining their personal dignity.)
