One of the reasons I love living in places in Asia is the lack of rules and structures. Because of that, we often stumble upon hidden treasures. This is my “freezer” place, and is one of the suppliers for Costco! I found this last school year when I wanted to buy a freezer at Costco, and the only one left was the display model, which they refused to sell to me. They were discontinuing that line from Costco, and after much negotiation and many phone calls later, an exasperated employee finally told me to call this place to see if they would sell me one.
And sell to me they did! It was so much cheaper than Costco, and they delivered for free! It took me a while to find this place, but I have since returned to help another friend buy one. I’m very slowly developing “guanxi” with the owners, although I don’t know how often I could go back – there are only so many freezers one can buy!
