Turning 5 months old in Kyoto!
We awoke and had a whirlwind day today in Kyoto, but it was a blast! We bought a bus pass and went to Kiyomizu Temple, which is a really famous Buddhist temple. We’re not sure what we saw since we went, took a few photos, and just went wandering around the area. We also went to Gion, which is the area famous for its remaining Geishas. We didn’t see any there – just some at Kiyomizu Temple. Then we went to Nijo-jo Castle, which doesn’t look much like a castle at all, so I didn’t post any photos of it here. Then at night, we went to eat Kaiten-sushi, which is the conveyor belt kind of sushi restaurant. It was SO yummy and surprisingly cheap. We also walked around the famous market (although I forget what it’s called).
Very fun day!
First Stop - Kiyomizu-Dera:
(Above left) Japanese School children at the temple. (Above center) Japanese women in traditional attire – many still actually dress like this in their daily lives! How cool!! (Above right) You can get a guy with really strong legs to pull you up the hill that leads to the temple. These guys are ripped!
(Above left) Geisha were just walking around the temple. (Above right) Me & Dudecus at the top of the temple.(Left): On our way to the temple, I couldn’t help but get my White Lover to stand in front of this sign!
Second Stop – Gion:
We found this lamp shop where this man made hand-made Japanese lanterns. They were so beautiful, but a small one cost about $300 CDN!
Eating!!!
(From Left to right): Some kind of sweet and sticky barbecued goo; Our Kaiten sushi restaurant; Sea Urchin!
Check out the sushi train that goes by our heads!
