A Sample of Daily Life in our (Taipei) Household

Walking home from church with Des, Kris, and Mom & Dad:

After buying pastries from a pastry shop, where the three of us kids were bugging Mom about eating all the goodies she just bought. This was getting her riled up as we were going to a buffet right after. Then, we riled her up even more:

Des: You only bought four of these buns?

Mom: No, I bought five.

Me: Why’d you only buy four if they were 5 for 50 NT?

Mom: No, I bought five!

Des: Wow, you have a lot of buttons to push.

(Pause)

Mom (looking down at her jacket with a zipper): What buttons? I don’t even have any buttons!

Mom is so funny and good-natured - we love that she can laugh at herself all the time :).
