Christmas 2008

CHRISTMAS EVE SUPPER 2008

We had a sort of traditional Christmas supper at my parents' place in Taipei this year! We had turkey, which was probably the only traditional part :). The rest was traditional for a Fung family Christmas -random gourmet food! There was seafood paella, roasted vegetables, and of course, sushi. Mom & Dad had some of their friends over, including Florence & Danny and their kids and Mandy & Keith. After the guests left, we stayed up until almost 2am opening presents and just laughing away. It was one of the best Christmases I've had in Taiwan.

Jason's Marketplace sure made a great turkey :), but Des
did a good job carving and eating it up.

The real cook (on the right). Nice golden shirt, mom!

I brought this banana chocolate chip cake all the way from
Kaohsiung. It's a good thing it only needed to be be heated!

All the yummy desserts - lemon squares, the cake & a fancy
fruit platter made by mom.

Mom & her young friends, Florence & Mandy.

After supper, we pulled crackers. Except they didn't crack.
But we got really neat prizes and very cool paper crowns.

Royal Family

We still got tons of presents despite being so far
from the rest of the family!

Des' pile o' presents

Hmm... we weren't sure what was under this wrapping... :)

It's like it was a book written just for dad: the Complete
Worst-Case Scenario Survival Handbook

Des reading us his story...

...It's supposed to read "Des the Late Bloomer."

We're still waiting for the real thing, but for now, Mom got
Kris the next best kind - a desktop basketball game.

Des got the two couples the same gift, so we're racing here
to see who can open it first!

We spent a lot of the night reading our new books from Des -
it was hilarious and is very much treasured by us.

Thanks also to our Knutson family for remembering us - I love the portable hard drive I got from Mom & Dad K, and it's always fun to see the messages in our bank account from Grandma & Grandpa K. It was definitely a blessed Christmas.
