At Roberto's

Our First Mexican Party...

and we were the first ones there! After a long day (see previous post for the "crossing border" episode!), we arrived at our new school. Well, the other campus of our new school. After several attempts and learning the "Mexican" way of answering (you'll get an answer, whether or not it's true!), we gave up on trying to figure out how close our new accommodations were to where we would be working.

Several hours after we arrived in Monterrey, we were finally taken to our apartment. To our surprise, it was a beautiful place. We had been bracing ourselves for a more typical tropical locale, but we actually had carpeting in our place! We were welcomed with a "Bienvenido" banner, pinwheels, and a fruit basket (the latter of which we later discovered, was purchased "for us" from our food coupons!)

It felt so good to unpack after the months of living out of our car!! Later that night, we walked to a Mexican teacher's (Roberto) house. We were told the party started at 8pm. Being me, who is never on time, we showed up at 8:10pm, eager to make a good impression.

Apparently, we weren't given the memo to never show up any earlier than 1 hour after the stated time of commencement of said event.

Our kitchen with our Welcome sign.
We've left it on so we're "welcomed" every night we get home from school!

Our bedroom. Notice the "Love Swans" headboard,
and the cowboy bedside lamps that every bedroom should have!

Our living room.

And dining room.

View of the mountains from our patio.

Still from our patio: a different view of the mountains
