Our Wonderful Church!

We started to attend the Dunns' church (it's a church plant that started in the fall of 2007) a couple of months ago. Everyone there has been so awesome and kind and friendly and just genuinely love Jesus. There are about 20 adults and about as many kids who attend this church.

Today, we met an hour earlier and all traveled together as a caravan.... to an army base for church! One of the members is an army commander/officer and he has to stay on the base every other weekend, so he can't come to church. He loves it so much that he asked if we could all bring church to him. We traveled over rough roads and got to a barbed-wired, machine-gun-protected base.

The other exciting thing was that both Kris and I were able to share our (brief) testimonies all in Chinese! We then had lunch that was prepared by our army friend... we had a huge spread - 3-cup chicken, fish, tofu, all kinds of vegetables, 2 kinds of soup.... and more! Then, the karaoke machine was discovered, and that was how we culminated today's service... with us singing traditional Chinese tunes (and some “对面的女孩看过来” - sorry for the simplified characters - for some reason, I can't get the traditional to work!).

We took Carmen, a student teacher, with us too, and then found out she's never seen a guava before. So, on our way home, we took a detour into farmland to show her guava trees, banana trees, etc., and learned that pineapples grow in a very creative way! We loved our day... and now we're off to take some of the kids in our building out for more Taiwanese fun - to the Ruei Fong Night Market.
