The Mysterious and Wonderful

It has finally arrived. For months Marion and I have been pondering the effect that this special new addition to our lives would bring. We knew that when this precious news came that we would have to change our lives, our routines. The excitement that new parents fell was finally ours.

The MRT had come to Kaohsiung.

The place where we live, Da She, is a wonderful and beautiful place. Daily we marvel at the creation God has given us. We appreciate the mountains and the fresh air greatly.

No matter how much we appreciate this wonder, however, we still miss the city. We miss the sights and sounds and most importantly the food which are so integral to properly appreciating this glorious country in which we all live.

The MRT has changed all that. We now have access to one of the most powerful public transportation systems known to man, the Kaohsiung MRT. We are now able to sit down in near luxury as we careen past beautiful buildings and oil refinery schools.

My excitement at seeing the fully operational battle sta..., i mean subway, knows no bounds. From my first steps in 'til my final one out of its beautiful doors, I was overwhelmed by the beauty, as well as convenience. We no longer have to drive downtown! We can park quite near to our apartment and in no more than 25 minutes be downtown.

The stations are truly to be admired. At one downtown station there is even a waterfall running down the center of the escalators and flowers on either side. It is truly amazing.

I will certainly make use of this long-awaited addition to our city. Thank you Kaohsiung!
