Typhoon Day?!

We're sitting around anxiously right now. Nothing bad. Just waiting to see if we might have a day off due to Typhoon Jangmi. We're not holding out much hope. The rest of the counties and cities around the island have already updated and the island is pretty much shut down... except us. Sigh...

There's a crazy wind blowing about, and rain is hitting our windows with tremendous force, yet the Kaohsiung government has still not made any announcements.

We left Taipei today at 2pm, on the second last high speed train bound for Zuoying, where we live. It normally takes us 1.5 hours, but today the trip was 2.5 hours because we had to stop and slow down several times because of the high winds.

They classify the strength of the winds by levels, and right now in Ilan (which is hardest hit and is on the northeast coast), it's at Level 17, which would be the strongest winds the Taipei 101 tower could handle. Luckily in Taipei, the winds are *only* at Level 13 (which are pretty strong, considering we're at Level 11, and I could barely open the gate to our building earlier).

There's also torrential rain, with Ilan already having over 1 meter of rain, and Taipei having somewhere between 600 and 800mm, with more to come. More updates in a few...
