Longyan Picking

On Sunday, after our warm welcome back at church, the gardener at our school, Mr. Xie (yes, the same one whose house we went to last spring), invited us to pick dragon eyes (it's a fruit - 龍眼). A few families went together, which was fun since we don't do much "just sitting around and chatting" in Chinese!

AJ - our principal's little guy - he just wanted
to eat the leaves and not the fruit!

Kris trekking up the hill to help cut down
longyan fruit.

Mr. Xie with an abundance of fruit -
and sweat - it's hard work being a fruit farmer! He's
pretty awesome - he even took down a whole hive for
us so we wouldn't get stung - the photo is on the "Our Taiwan" blog.

Angela & Gabe & Mrs. Xie. Much of the time was spent with
the men going up to cut down the fruit while we ladies
separated the fruit from the leaves. I was sweating profusely
enough without having to hike and reach!
