Happy Valentine's Day!!! Happy Father's Day!!!
We flew back to Taiwan on August 7th, and immediately went to Taipei on August 8th to be with my mom before her surgery.
We love spending time with them - they're so funny!!
August 7th turned out to be Chinese Valentine's Day, but we both forgave each other for the lack of presents since, well, we didn't know until it was over.
So August 8th sounds like "ba ba" in Chinese, which also sounds like "father" in Chinese; hence, August 8th is Father's Day in Taiwan. To celebrate, I bought dad a "dad-shaped" bun.
I wanted to take one photo with Dad and the bun,but he insisted on this second pose... told you he's funny.
The hospital experience is definitely weird... they post everyone's names & their room numbers on the board in the lobby; they post your name on a TV screen, listing your name, your room number, and whether you're being operated on or in recovery. Definitely against all privacy laws in Canada!! The doctor also showed us the stuff he took out - it was so gross. I don't know how anyone becomes a surgeon! But despite it all, mom is doing well, so for that, I am thankful.
