New Year's Eve in Taipei

Until this year, we've kept our "tradition" of being in a different place for every New Year's Eve. Since the year before we were engaged, we've celebrated in Beijing, Taipei, Elbow, Hong Kong, Chetumal, and this year, again in Taipei. So, either our tradition has broken, or we may be doing a cycle?! :) I'm not sure if I can handle Chetumal again!!

We went down to Taipei 101 (taking only 25 minutes to get ONTO the MRT - even though they came every 20 seconds!) and watched the amazing fireworks display. It was definitely jaw-droppingly awesome!!!! Although my video is a little shaky, it should give you some idea at the intensity of the fireworks. Sources say there were over 600,000 spectators and 12,000 fireworks blasting off the world's (still?) tallest building.

Kris & I and the world's tallest building right behind his head.

What New Year's Eve could be without bunny ears
that pulse light? (or light sabres or light-up devil
horns or Mickey Mouse ears?)

The port-a-potty... Look closely to see the masses of people that
lined up for many a mile!

Some shots of the tower - it was pretty amazing - with some of them looking like Taipei 101 blew up!

Thousands of balloons being released into the air!
