Hong Kong - Post Wedding

After the wedding...

We definitely didn't do as much shopping this time in HK, but we managed to get in some :). We also ate a lot and saw a lot of family... We also got to spend time with Kylie & Jocelyn Barnstable and their aunt!

Mmm...Barbecued meats!!! Must be good with all those people!

Christmas crowds at OceanTerminal

View of Hong Kong Island from Tsim Sha Tsui

Star Ferry - that is one great mode of transportation.

紫米露 - One of my favourite desserts -
Purple rice with sago in hot coconut milk!

Christians caroling on the streets of Tsim Sha Tsui

This was Christmas Eve - probably just as crowded, if not more,
than New Year's Eve. And this was just ONE section of Hong Kong!!
We walked with the flow of the crowd, thinking there would be
fireworks for the "Christmas Eve Countdown", but after an hour
of walking, we finally asked a cop where the fireworks were. His reply?
"There aren't any. And there isn't anything happening."
So why all the people?
"They're looking at the lights."
??? But they're on all the time!!!

They're looking at lights like these ones at the
famous Peninsula Hotel. (By the way,
Kylie still owes Kris a high tea here...!)

Kris in his zen-like pose on the very crowded MTR.

My grandma's brother (舅公) and his wife.

We were standing happily amidst the crowds on Christmas
Eve. It was probably one of the strangest Christmases (sp?)
I've ever had. Milling about with a million people, doing nothing,
standing across from the Hong Kong Mosque while watching the
Hari Krishna Parade....

There were so many people that the police had to create
human-automated barriers to make sure people only
crossed at green lights!

Sitting outside Crocodile, waiting for mom to shop at 10pm
on Christmas Eve.

Christmas Day Service at the church my mom
grew up in, and the church I attended as a child.
It is also the scene of Desmond's claim-to-fame
as a runaway sheep.

The exterior of the 100-year-old church my
mom attended. It's going to be torn down soon :(.

These are the infamous Mexican-style barbecue pork buns...
the slightly sweet melt-in-your-mouth pastry hits your tongue before
you bite into piping hot barbecue pork.
The restaurant is at Lee Garden Two, and they also serve a similar
bun, but filled with oozing almond custard.. Just the thought
of these is making my mouth water!

My aunt Janet, her son Marcus (in orange), her daughter
Nicole (face hidden), and her nephew, Sean.

My Fourth Great-Aunt - My mom's dad's sister
(我的四姑 婆)

Mom & my uncle (大大舅父)

My other uncle (细细舅父) and his wife, Christina

Uncle Joseph and his wife, Ivy, and Nelson & Marcus

The fish on the left is about a foot & a half long. I'll let you
figure out how big the other one is. And these are meant
to eventually be on a plate...

Fun with Desmond & Mom:

After our Christmas Dinner - HK style:

The three men, defeated...

Then, rejoicing at their cleverness of their previous pose!

Kris, the D&G model - call us if you want him
to do some modeling...

Little Des, all grown up...
