Our New Home

Our New "Farmhouse"

Here's my fourth "never" that's come about - we're living on a farm. Sort of. We're almost living on a farm because that's really all there is around us. Sort of a Chinese version of Elbow farm land, except that the "town" is much bigger and busier than Elbow's "1 gas station, 4 restaurants, and a handful of stores" downtown.

We've been meaning to take photos of the inside of our place, but we've been working on making it look like a house and trying to survive our incredibly intense schedules that it's never been clean enough to take a photo!

I've been feeling quite trapped amongst this open space. Perhaps this is a sort of agoraphobia? We've also been wanting to make friends with the farmers around us, but to our dismay, they only speak Taiwanese, and at the moment, my Taiwanese consists of "Good morning", "I don't understand", and "I want to learn to speak Taiwanese."

Hopefully this will change soon! Well, on to a little view of our life here thus far:

Our guest bedroom - feel free to come anytime!
The only "furniture" we have in this room are empty
cardboard boxes. We probably have enough to build our own bed!
(the only photo we currently have of the interior)

Looking off our east balcony - see the new highrises in the distance?
I believe all the greenery are guava trees.

A look out of the west balcony.
Miles and miles of pineapple fields with Kaohsiung City in the distance.

Another view off our east balcony - I'm just making up the
directions here - I haven't actually figured them out.
That's a giant temple on the left that sets off really nice fireworks.

A view down, way down (we live in the "penthouse" -
the seventh floor) at the playground in our apartment complex.

Here's a view towards the school. We live right
beside work which is ultra-convenient, considering we have
no vehicle. There is a little farmhouse in between us and the track field.

A clearer view of the school grounds - it's incredibly beautiful!

Hi Kris and Marion. Auntie Dara here. First of all, Marion that is not a farm. If you can see anything that resembles "town" like school etc, that is not a farm (ha ha) I will assume that you two have not been affected by the weather over there?
all is well here in Moose Jaw. busy loving life. Riders are in the playoffs, and we are going to the game on Sunday(oct 21). Should be great. Shayla just turned 12 this month. She is in the school musical of Cinderella next week. She is dancing lots. Life is good. Love you Dara
