Almost Half a Month In...

We're now in the middle of Week 3 at school, and I must say it has been a major improvement on last year's first month. No tears (yet), and only a vague feeling of inadequacy... still there, but nonetheless, an improvement on last year's "I don't think I should be teaching" feelings.

I've decided that instead of waiting till I have time to upload photos (partly because we keep forgetting to take photos of our place when it's clean...), I'm going to write a little to keep our vast readership up-to-date on the oh-so-exciting life of the Knutsons (who apparently now love using hyphenated-word-phrases).

I got to talk to my good from Mel last night (who lived in Honduras for the last 4 years), and then heard from my good friend Maro, all the way from Zambia. I love the international life and feel so blessed that we have been able to keep in touch despite not having seen each other in 2.5 years (Mel), and 4 or 5 years (Maro).

It's also been a blessing to live in an apartment building with incredibly nice people. Our schedule since last Tuesday (I would add more, but my memory is fading...):

Tuesday/Wednesday - Dinner with the Stranges
Thursday - Girls' night out
Friday - Dinner with the Griffins
Saturday - Dinner with the Smuckers
Sunday - Lunch with the Smuckers
- Dinner with the Muirs & their Chinese friends
Monday - Dinner with the Collins
Tuesday - Dinner out

Yes - we've had an active social life!!!

We had a great day on Sunday - we went to a local Chinese church in Dashe (our village), and had a great time (and I understood almost everything!!). Everyone was really friendly, and we actually felt quite at home there. We went out for lunch at a Niu Rou Zhuan Bing (Beef Wrap) place after, and started chatting with the owner (Mr. Zhang). He then offered to take us around Kaohsiung, and he would show us all the sites. Unfortunately, his hours don't coincide with ours since we work at a school, and he runs a restaurant. So, he is free after 10pm... we'll have to wait till we have a weekend free to do the tours!

I love having neighbourhoods and living in them because of experiences like that - where you really do get to end up singing that "People in Your Neighbourhood" song...

"The Beef Wrap Restaurant Owner in your neighbourhood, in your neighbourhood, in your neigh-bour-hoo-od! etc....."

Alright, it's time for me to go to bed cause I'm actually going to go exercise in the morning before school! I'm writing this down so that I'll look back and see how long this lasts :).

Signing off...

It's another Sewell Auntie! I, too, am happy that you are enjoying yourselves there. God works things out so beautifully if we let Him, doesn't He? May you be blessed hugely!!!

Lots of love!
