Semana Santa Vacations - Part 2

From Oaxaca to Puebla

So we crossed state lines on my birthday, and went into Puebla. We passed gorgeous mountains and countryside, and ended up in the architecturally-rich town of Puebla.
We weren't big fans, but it was fine for a day.

Some scenic shots as we passed through the two states:

On our way into Puebla, there were a bunch of these mini
pyramids. We'll be grateful to anyone who can tell us what they are!

The main cathedral in town. I think this
worker was scrubbing the immense courtyard by hand.

I didn't know Catholicism was a cult... taken at the cathedral.

Picturesque, but expensive. Kris is holding up a 100 peso
bill, representing the amount we paid for this balcony so that
we didn't have to live in the dingy basement.

A more distant view of our Hotel - Hotel del Portal. We
spent much of our time at the Italian Coffee Company underneath.

Our "free" breakfast was at this lobby bar -
and we saw this sign with Kris' initials!!

Our free breakfast at the bar: two pieces of melba-like toast, with
watered-down coffee.... Mmm...

One of my favourite Mexican quirks - the China Poblana.
She is a well-known figure, who supposedly had
mystical powers. So mystical, I guess, that she made
everyone think she was Chinese when she actually came
from India as a servant girl.
