After the Typhoon

So much has happened, and despite my utter boredom of being at home with only Kaeden for company, apparently having a baby doesn't allow much time for blogging either.

We got water over a week after it disappeared. And were we ever thankful. At one point in time, we weren't even allowed to use the air conditioners because they needed water to run. 34 C, humid and sticky, and not having showered for a week made us all feel really good. We do have a well on the property, so for a while, we were hauling water to flush our toilets.

The fire truck came on the Saturday. Not because of a fire, but to fill up our water tank! Then some clever person rigged the well water to our water tank, so we could have running water out our taps... but still no showers.

I ended up organizing a trip into the next town over for a hairwash. For 150 - 350 NT ($5-$12 CDN), you could get a basic to "Super" hairwash. The basic hairwash involves about 40 minutes of a head and shoulder massage, while a Super hairwash... well, I have no idea since the basic one was good enough for me.

But we're thankful for water. Very thankful especially for running water. And hair wash places with a really large water tank (or recycling their water, but we won't ask any questions...).

Glad to hear things are getting back to normal for you. I can't believe a milk shortage??? We take so much for granted here. I heard a little of this from Gaylene, but thanks for updating so I could get a clearer picture of how you are doing there.
Take care... Love from your "greatest" Auntie Dara! XXOO
