Things that are strange/different/unique/make me realize I'm having reverse culture shock:
- vast quantities of choices (the cereal aisle is more than just a few boxes!, the ramen restaurant menu had over 10 pages of different kinds of ramen)
- you can turn right at red lights!
- drivers in cars give you space when they see you're riding a bike
- not knowing where to buy flour, or vast quantities of butter, or other items
- discussion of daycares/preschools/Montessoris - it's like people are speaking another language
Things I'm appreciating about Canada:
- taking a nap in the afternoon and feeling a cool breeze come through my window
- ice cold water from my taps
- immediate hot water when I'm taking a shower
- not having to use all my strength to pull the thing that makes the water come out of the shower part
- ample parking spots
- fresh air
- organic foods
- not having to worry about cockroaches, ants or assorted pests when I leave food out
- not having to put cereal in a sealed container because it'll be soggy in a few days
- milk in bags!
- worshipping in English at church
- washing my vegetables and fruits from the KITCHEN tap!
- being able to drink water from the KITCHEN tap!
- not having to worry if I'll have enough filtered water to finish washing my veggies or cook with
- all-bran cereal in abundance
- applesauce in jars that you can buy!
- blueberries, raspberries and Hass avocadoes
- biking - and being able to go out biking on a whim if my parents are at home
