Amazing Birthday, Amazing Husband

My 31st birthday was amazing. It was amazing, not just because the whole day was great, but because it showed what an amazing husband I have.

It started off with us going to church. The plan afterwards was that a bunch of us ladies were then going out for afternoon tea, and we'd end off with an Indian meal cooked by Kris. I wanted to take the car with Christina, but Kris kept insisting that he needed it, and that either Angela would drive us down or he would. I kept saying we shouldn't inconvenience Angela, but he kept insisting. In the end, he drove us down there for tea. Ang & Kathy met us down there. Kathy didn't bring a car, and some others didn't make it, so the only person with a vehicle was Ang. Plans were flip-flopped around, as Angela was supposed to bring Christina & me to the surprise dinner party that was happening later.

Christina also kept insisting that she needed to stop by La Riche Cellier to make reservations for her friends or family. I told her I had the number at home and she could just call, but nope, she really needed to go in person for some reason!

Anyway, we had a good tea, with fun conversations about buffets, and other Chinese-Canadian/American "common knowledge"; Kathy was amused.

After the tea, which was about 4:30pm, Christina asked Ang to drop us off at the Hanshin Department Store. We walked around a bit; she dragged me to all these makeup counters. We apparently eventually killed enough time, and walked to La Riche Cellier to "make reservations." I told Christina that there wasn't enough time to go there and back, as Kris was supposedly picking us up at the Hanshin. She then told me it was okay; he would pick us up there. I kept calling Kris, and no one ever picked up.

We went to the restaurant, where Christina "looked"at the menu and went to the bathroom. She actually went to the back to talk to Angela, who was there with Gabe & the Wardles, to see if everything was set for the surprise. She even threw me off by saying, "Is it weird if I use the bathroom if I'm just here to see the menu?" We then went out of the restaurant again, with Christina saying that Kris was going to pick us up at the Hanshin. Then halfway there, she changed her mind again as she got a phone call from "Kris", telling her to meet us at the restaurant. I was very suspicious then because I could hear a voice that sounded like Angela's through her cell. I kept trying to take her cell, but she never let me.

We got back to the restaurant and waited at the curb. A waiter came out and asked if we wanted to tour the wine cellar while we were waiting. Christina, of course, said yes. And lo and behold, there was my darling husband, the Chois & the Wardles, all waiting to surprise me. And the biggest surprise? No children (except Téa)!!!! We had a great dinner, and it was neat to be able to talk as adults with no little people running around...

Kaeden & Téa also gave me a present - a framed picture of the three of us. Kris insisted that Kaeden picked out the photo. :)

I was suspicious all day, but everyone was pretty good at trying to throw me off. Janice did so by saying she couldn't make the tea because of church obligations, but that we would definitely do something that week to celebrate. Christina kept saying all sorts of weird things, and Angela kept calling to ask if there was anything I'd like to do for my birthday. Kris actually made Indian food, complete with homemade naan and Tandoori Chicken! And little k and T slept through the afternoon so Kris could finish the meal.

It was the best birthday I've had in many years. I'm going to miss my friends here...
