Elbow 2008

SUPERMAN!

We spent an amazing 2 weeks in Elbow, catching up with family and friends. What I appreciate the most about going to Saskatchewan is that everyone is so willing to drop what they're doing just to come visit with us - and that makes us feel loved and cared for. Thank you. We love you all too. We watched fireworks, "Marion" was listed as doing a demonstration for Swedish embroidery (sorry I never showed), Kris won BIG at bingo, and lefse was made....

Fish Fry - thanks to Grandpa & Grandma for catching the fish!

Auntie Dara- our loyal fan base :)

There was a lot of jumping on the trampoline!

Kris! Don't jump on Jack (isn't Jack a great actor?!)

We sort of look farmer-ish standing in our
fields of peas.

Inspecting the crops... (yeah right!)

Had a great visit with the Busse family.

Aren't teenage boys easy to frighten?!

Nope, they weren't posing... Mom K & Cindy really were
like that - for a LONG time as they tried to capture some
kind of bird.

Who do you think is the tallest?

Edgar Marten on his birthday. Every
year, we manage to be invited :).

The Napolean cake that Louise Marten makes - it is SO good.
17 layers of crepe with vanilla pudding between each layer.

Isaac "hurt his back" so he prescribed himself this ice pack
to go around his waist.

Grandpa, Kris & awesome Aunt Helen (Grandpa's sis)

We had a chance to learn a little about family history...

I love this shot cause it's so representative of farm life. We
were driving back from Moose Jaw, and Grandpa spots a Wankel.
We pull up, turns out it was Uncle Doug, and he stops to chat.

This is Goldie's old house. It was actually a work house of some
sort (I can't remember the name of it), so Goldie tacked on some tin
and made it a house. Grandpa said that he used to have to
chase mice out of his bed every night!

Just by chance, Dally was up the same weekend we were.
We miss you lots!

Canada Day with the fam.

The return of Saskatchewan Man and Mr. Scary Bad Guy.

We had a chance to spend a WHOLE day with Darin & Wade.
One took time off work and the other took time off play to,
well, play with us.

I can't remember what Wade was doing, except he was
really talking intensely about some not-so-serious topic.

Ahhh... the lazy days of summer - much of our time in
Saskatchewan looked like this. The only thing that changed
was whether we were in the living room, the TV room, on the
deck or in the backyard... :)

Finally... we got to meet up with the HONGs! We had a great
time seeing the Tim Horton's and the Dairy Queen in
Swift Current!

The Miss Maple Creek wave?

Jason and his fiancee - isn't his house so awesome? It's a time
warp from the 60s - but I didn't get a photo of the John Deere
pillows and blanket.

Jason & Jen posing in front of the new
addition to Elbow - the Hot Diggity Dawgs bus!
