We went to the Penghu Islands (澎 湖) (off the west coast of Taiwan) for a quick holiday. There are about 14 islands, with several of them joined by bridges. The main city (also the only city) is called "Makung" (馬公). There's not much here, although there is a Starbucks and a McD's. There's a neat old part of town that makes you realize that Chinese towns did look like what they often portray in movies!

Doing what we do best - Kris watching and listening and
Marion doing - I'm picking up some really gorgeous shells!

Penghu is famed for its seafood. Here are canned jars of what
appears to be "臭肉魚", which literally translates as "Stinky Meat Fish."
We got jars of those for everyone for Christmas. I hope you're excited!

More fish - fish in a box, mini fish in tubs, vacuum-packed fish,
dried fish, smoked fish, any kind of fish you want!

My dad attracts puppies. Here's a really cut one
who followed us all the way back to the hotel.

Marion and Superman.
He later carried me and flew me to those big tanks to watch
the sun set.

Dad's just chillin'.

Mom & Dad and the fake cruise ship (which was
a mini mall).

The old part of Makung. Aside from the
scooters, you might think you were in ancient China.

Another favourite snack in Penghu - snails.
You take these tiny things and suck them out of their shells.
Very good!

One of my favourite Taiwanese foods - tea eggs.

Another favourite - of Des'! Fish and tofu on-a-stick!

I love this one - it's a Chinese sausage in a sticky rice bun!
It tastes so good, but is so bad for your heart. Bummer.
