Last Day of School

On the last day of school I began a short dialogue with several students from the class of 5B concerning various upcoming and past activities. As my sister was visiting this weekend and my excitement was quickly mounting, I decided to tell the kids about the, uhhh, impending visit.

"My sister is coming!" I said, excitement pouring forth from my mouth as water streams magestically from the Cola de Caballo, "and on Monday you will get to meet her."

"Reaaally????" they queried, their eager minds spinning as to what the sister of their revered teacher must be like.

"Yes she is, and yes you will", I said.

I proceeded to explain my sister, physical details such as her blond hair, wonderful personality, and finally her height.

"She is as tall as I am", I said, which of course brought about the question "How tall ARE you??"

I told them that I was 5'11 (A glorified 5'11 perhaps). One of the students then asked me if that meant 5 METRES TALL? I laughed and said that they were right, I am a giant among mortals. After much discussion about this one student said, "Maybe you are 11 CENTIMETRES tall?" I laughed at this and pretended to be 11 CM tall, ordering them to do their work in a Mickey Mouse voice.

After much laughter I asked them if they would still respect me if I was 11 CM tall. Their response was:

"No, we'd throw you in the garbage!"

*sigh*
