Sightseeing in Monterrey...

...with Joan and Dennis Soggie!

We finally had visitors, from Elbow, Saskatchewan no less! Joan and Dennis, friends of Kris' parents came down on a tour from Harlingen, Texas, and stopped to see us too! We took them on a tour of our neighbourhood, and then the next day, we joined them on their tour bus to sightsee Monterrey before grabbing a bite on Morelos, a pedestrian-only avenue downtown. Despite the freezing temperatures (about 5 C - 10 C!), we had a great time and were thrilled to have people from home see our Mexican home.

Joan at Las Huastecas, a mostly limestone mountain range.

Look up, way up, and you'll see this house built into
the mountains. According to the story, no one knows
how it was done, just that it was once owned by a doctor, and
now sits abandoned.

Soon they'll be calling Monterrey the city of love! On Sunday,
while walking along Morelos, we came across a bunch of guys with
this sign. They woke up that morning and thought this
would be a good way to cheer up "regiomontanas" (Monterrey citizens).

You know I can't refuse free gifts! It's okay - Kris gave his approval first :).

I don't think Dennis got his hug, nor did he seem to want it.
I wonder why... being from Saskatchewan and all!

Kris and I went to the Pulga (flea market) after Joan and Dennis
left. It was like a massive tent with all sorts of stuff for sale.

One of the booths in the "pulga" - I think the Virgin Mary must
be blessing the hardware on the wall of this "we sell everything" booth.

In order to leave the Pulga to catch a taxi, we had literally
forge a river - and it wasn't one you wanted to touch.

Thanks for visiting!!! We loved spending time with you!!!!
